RELEASE NOTES

Welcome to Melo, your trusted digital partner in helping make sense of complex patient behaviours.

As a small and dedicated team, we strive to enhance your experience through regular improvements. Each software release is designed to bolster Melo's functionality, security, and user experience.

We prioritise our product developments based on feedback from clinicians and healthcare users, empowering them in their care for patients.

Version 1.7 (Dec 5th, 2024)

In what will be our final release of the year, before we spend the rest of the month on a number of technical housekeeping tasks and performance improvements, we have just released the following:

  • Behaviour over time graphs - added to the ABS and ABC frameworks together with date selectors, data granularity filters and event markers.

  • Bookmarking of patients - keep track of individual patients easier by bookmarking them via the patient profile or patient list, and then quickly filter the patient list by those patients.

  • OASMNR Behaviour type filter - added to the OASMNR data insights cards so that you can quickly retrieve insights based on a specific behaviour type.

  • Event markers - due to popular demand we have now increased the number of events you can add to 6, and also brought this feature into the new ABC and ABS behaviour over time graphs.

  • Downloadable patient charts - so that you can now save an image of any of the charts for onward use in reports, emails, etc.

  • NHS ID added to the patient dropdown - so that you can differentiate between patients with the same, or similar names, easier when starting via the ‘Record data’ button when outside of the patient profile. Also, reduces the risk of picking the wrong patient!

  • OASMNR Copy to clipboard of data - improved to now include behaviour ‘count’ in addition to percentage.

  • A number of small improvements - to ensure Melo is working as well it can for you.

Enjoy all the new features, and look out for what we have in store in 2025!

Version 1.6 (Nov 20th, 2024)

Introducing a number of new features to the Patient Profile to improve the ability to capture personalised information about the patient, including:

  • Summary tab - additional section to house the new Patient Background and Care Tips features.

  • Patient background - easy to update section for you to capture a short description about the individual patient - maybe their likes and dislikes, or information about their life and interests. This is designed to help with handovers and staff being able to capture some basic information about the patient.

  • Care Tips - enabling you to capture information about ‘what works well’ for an individual patient. This could include positive behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques or anything else that is being used with an individual patient by the care team. Also includes the ability to ‘upvote’ other peoples suggestions so that this becomes a dynamic view which evolves over time.

In addition to the new patient profile features:

  • ABS edit & delete - allowing an admin user to edit and delete previous submissions.

  • Filter patient list by tag - allowing you to use the new self-service tags as a way of being able to filter the patient list.

  • Minor updates - to improve the accuracy of the ABS graphs which show a comparison of average behaviour types.

Version 1.5 (Nov 7th, 2024)

This particular release brings together a number of new features (based on user feedback and clinical discussion), together with a whole range of smaller enhancements and improvements across the platform.

New features including:

  • Event markers added to the 'OASMNR Behaviour over time' chart so that you can add and track interventions or significant events - making it easier to conduct analysis and spot changes in behaviour.

  • Self-service patient tags - you can now manage and create 'tags' for your organisation, add/update them for an individual patient and see this information easily on each patient profile. This can be used to add relevant information such as observation levels, patient conditions or cohort groupings.

  • OASMNR copy data summary to clipboard - allowing you to export the relevant data from each of the Antecedents, Behaviours and Interventions charts at the click of a button for use in other reports or patient summaries.

  • ABC edit & delete - allowing an admin user to edit and delete previous submissions.

  • Single page ABC - we have given the ABC form a UI/UX overhaul to bring it in line with the ABS and OASMNR, combining all data onto one easy to navigate page (rather than the previous paginated style). This brings standardisation, performance improvements and makes it easier to use on small devices.

  • Patient ID - added to the patient profile to allow hospitals to use an optional local ID number (in addition to NHS ID).

A selection of smaller enhancements including:

  • All homepage charts improved to allow you to 'click through' to any individual patient shown directly from within the chart - saving time and helping you get to the individual patient quicker.

  • Adding 'time of behaviour' to assessment lists - to improve the usefulness of the information provided.

  • Additional granularity to show daily and monthly data points on the 'OASMNR Behaviour over time' chart - to provide further detail and ability to analyse the data.

  • Accessibility improvements to meet A11y standards across all charts - ensuring we cater for all users.

  • Showing numeric keyboard as the default input type on mobile devices wherever there is a number field (eg, NHS ID) - making it simpler to enter the relevant information on a small device.

  • Ensuring the patient name is pre-populating in all forms when accessed from the individual patient profile.

  • A number of other smaller UI/UX improvements.

Version 1.4.2 (Oct 10th, 2024)

A number of small UI/UX improvements across the new OASMNR:

  • OASMNR totals card - to help a user quickly see how many overall OASMNR assessments an individual patient has had.

  • OASMNR success confirmation message - helping a user know that the OASMNR data has been successfully added to Melo.

  • OASMNR bar charts - you can now ‘expand all’ to see all available data points (not just the top 10).

  • Duplicate patient error messaging - to help make it clear why a duplicate patient can’t be added to Melo.

  • Onboarding email for Trial accounts - so that we can add trial users to Melo smoothly and easily.

  • A number of small changes - including to the Patient ID field, the Patient DoB field and a number of tooltips throughout Melo.

This release also allowed us to carry out a number of back-end updates and upgrades to packages (eg, PostgreSQL, validation criteria on Kinde Org ID).

Version 1.4.1 (Sep 26th, 2024)

As part of our ongoing roadmap for the new OAS-MNR, we have released a number of further features to enhance this specific assessment framework:

  • OASMNR edit & delete - allowing an admin user to edit and delete previous submissions.

  • OASMNR number of occurrences - improved UI around how this feature is used on the ground and in reporting.

  • OASMNR assessment history - added code prefixes to all antecedents and interventions on the assessment summary page.

Additional work to improve the audit log for whenever changes are made to an individual patient, so as to maintain full audit history.

Version 1.4 (Aug 29th, 2024)

The 'Overt Aggression Scale Modified for Neurorehab' (OASMNR) is now available in Melo to record incident data. This assessment is used to record detailed aggressive behaviours in patients with brain injuries, and has been introduced to the Melo suite of assessments as part of the collaboration with Professor Nick Alderman & Elysium Healthcare.

  • OASMNR assessment - new assessment form available to relevant organisations to use to record individual patient level data.

  • OASMNR patient level insights - 7 new patient graphs to view patient progress and trends (antecedents, behaviours, interventions, setting events, times of day, & days of week)

  • OASMNR hospital level insights - 4 new homepage charts to view site and ward level trends (highest severity & frequency patients, times of day, & days of week)

If you don’t currently have access to the OASMNR, but would like to explore how it could be used in your organisation then please reach out to us for a discussion.

Version 1.3 (July 18th, 2024)

A number of practical improvements to help save you time and make finding patient level data easier and simpler:

  • Improved date range picker - added to all parts of Melo where you need to enter or select a date/time. Improving performance and giving you more control over the date range you want to search by.

  • Searching historical assessments - helping you to quickly find a specific patient assessment by being able to search by who submitted it.

  • Print function added to patient profile & individual assessments - for those times when you need to share the data as a pdf or physical document.

Version 1.2 (July 11th, 2024)

As we prepare to soon introduce some new assessments into Melo, we have made a number of changes to help make the data stored in Melo more accessible and actionable:

  • New look homepage - making it easier to see things like how many patients are currently active/discharged on Melo, which patients have recently been assessed and which patients are currently being reported as having behavioural issues flagged as part of their most recent assessment.

  • Ward level filter - you can now drill down further into this data by individual ward - saving you time and overall improving the way Melo can help you plan and prioritise across your patient group.

  • Simplified patient list - we have stripped out any data related to individual assessments of behaviour from the patient list and moved this to either the new look homepage and/or onto the individual patient profile. This makes the patient list more standardised for as/when we introduce new assessment frameworks.

Version 1.1.1 (June 27th, 2024)

Building on the previous release where we introduced Kinde to Melo, then we have created a few more useful features that will help you manage your organisation:

  • Multi-Tenant Login Capability - for users who manage multiple accounts, we're excited to introduce a multi-tenant login feature. Enabled by our integration with Kinde, this feature will allow designated users to switch between accounts seamlessly (from within the user menu), eliminating the need to log out and log back in. This innovation is designed to streamline the management of multiple accounts, enhancing efficiency and ease of use.

  • Advanced user management control for admins - giving you the ability to add additional admins, remove admin access, archive users, reinvite users. Overall, making it easier and quicker to manage the changing needs of your organisations users.

  • Ward names are now self-service - giving admins the ability to name and re-name wards across your hospital, together with creating new wards if required.

Version 1.1.0 (May 23rd, 2024)

With this release we are excited to bring the benefits of Kinde to our platform. Kinde is an industry leading user management and authentication platform and will offer significant advantages to how Melo will grow and scale - including performance, security, onboarding and user access controls. As part of this initial release, we have introduced:

  • A new, simplified Melo login process - improving how users access Melo for the first time (and every time) with a streamlined, ultra-secure, onboarding experience.

  • Ability to introduce SSO (Single Sign On) options in the future - so you can use things like Azure AD, NHS mail or other active directories to ensure that staff have access when they need it. (Reach out to us if you would like to explore this option now).

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) - giving users access to advanced authentication options, protecting them from reused or breached passwords.

  • Increased level of vendor controls for the Melo team to setup new hospitals, configure role based access controls and turn specific features on and off. This will allow us to have greater flexibility and customisation going forwards, so that we can tailor Melo to meet your specific needs.

Version 1.0.1 (May 23rd, 2024)

This is a relatively small release to tidy up a few things and add in a few new features and improvements:

  • Additional analysis capability through a ‘day of the week’ graph - so that you can identify trends around when incidents are happening. This sits alongside the ‘time of day’ graph to offer a joined-up view to help identify opportunities to better intervene.

  • Introduction of a new visual identity for individual assessment frameworks - making them easier to identify at a glance!

  • Addition of helpful version control link back to these release notes - so that you can easily see what we are releasing and improving each time we update Melo.

  • Pop-up notification for users to ‘Accept & continue’ whenever Terms & Conditions are updated.

  • A number of small performance improvements to the back-end and API - to speed up your day-to-day experience of using Melo.

Version 1.0 (May 7th, 2024)

This is a big moment for the team as we move away from our initial first working version of Melo and ‘relaunch’ a new and improved platform, which we will build upon in the months and years to come!

User Experience:

  • Redesigned interface for a fresh look and feel, accompanied by a range of UI & UX improvements.

  • Streamlined user login and authentication processes, now featuring 2FA and password resets for enhanced security.
